Job Summary: In the role of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing system transition to new cloud landing zones as well as supporting existing Azure\AWS environments. As we ramp up our cloud migration initiatives, this position will play a key role in ensuring seamless transitions, from on premise to cloud, while optimizing performance, security, and cost[1]effectiveness within Azure\AWS environments. At the same time, you will also provide day to day support and management for on premise virtualized servers, SANs, backup solutions, and encryption as well as many other enterprise applications and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
· On-Premises Infrastructure Support:
o Assist in monitoring, Configuration, support, and management of Windows and Linux servers within virtualized environments.
o Act as technical liaison between clients, customers and vendors to resolve issues as needed.
o Participate in an infrastructure team on-call rotation schedule.
o Provide escalation support for outages and major application issues.
o Support HA, load balancing, SAN, NAS, and other installed Storage solutions. o Support backup and replication systems (Veeam, Zerto)
o Support DR systems testing and planning for on premise and cloud-based environments.
o Act as a technical resource for business unit related projects and cross company initiatives.
o Support encryption systems for data at rest and in flight (ProofPoint, Thales, Bitlocker)
· Cloud Migration Strategy Support:
o Analyze existing on-premises infrastructure, network, and applications.
o Collaborate across multiple business units in developing comprehensive migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
§ Work closely with IT team colleagues, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and address concerns.
o Provide analytical, technical, and administrative support in the planning and architecture of new cloud environments.
§ Assist in the selection of appropriate cloud services for specific applications and workloads.
· Cloud Migration Implementation Support:
o Collaborate in the design and execution of migration strategies, ensuring system integrity and security during the transition from on premise to cloud environments.
o Set up, configure, and support cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS) based on best practices and security standards. o Utilize tools and scripts to automate and streamline migration processes.
· Cloud Migration Testing and Validation:
o Conduct thorough testing of migrated applications, systems, and networks.
o Validate functionality and performance in the new cloud environment.
· Cloud Migration Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate documentation of migration processes, configurations, and changes. o Report on project progress and provide updates to management.
· Ongoing Optimization and Support for all Cloud Environments:
o Research and analyze cloud patches and maintenance configurations. o Respond and resolve incidents and problems occurring in the environment.
o Monitor cloud environments post-migration for performance and security.
o Identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings in cloud usage.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Proven experience with on-premises cloud migrations (3+ years preferred).
· Experience in supporting hybrid cloud environments.
· Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure and AWS) and their services.
· Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
· Expert Knowledge of server architectures, multiple server operating systems (Windows and Linux)
· Experience implementing complex and comprehensive solutions related to performance, availability of systems and security.
· Experience working closely in a collaborative team setting.
· Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
· Familiarity with networking principles in a on premise and virtual setting
· Strong knowledge of encryption
· Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Relevant VMWare and cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator).
· Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
· Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
