We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our Defined Contribution (DC) Platforms team.
This role blends deep data engineering, cloud, and development expertise to help evolve a resilient, data-centric infrastructure supporting participant recordkeeping systems.
The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of mentoring team members and driving innovation in cloud-based data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and validation of foundational data-centric capabilities.
- Collaborate with architects, cloud experts, and operational leads to define and evolve resilient data platforms.
- Write complex SQL queries and optimize performance on Oracle (PL/SQL).
- Apply performance tuning and optimization techniques to improve system efficiency.
- Design and implement scalable data and cloud solutions using public cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Develop and support ETL strategies and data pipelines.
- Apply resiliency and stability design principles, including Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Contribute to the design of large, complex systems and distributed applications.
- Utilize shell scripting and work within Linux environments.
- Document technical processes, workflows, and architectures for operational excellence.
- Mentor and coach junior data engineering associates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in data and cloud engineering.
- Strong expertise in Oracle (PL/SQL) and SQL performance tuning.
- Proven experience with public cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Experience working with large datasets and complex system designs.
- Proficiency in ETL development and data pipeline design.
- Familiarity with SRE principles and distributed application development.
- Experience in Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with development in Java, .NET, or Python
