The Division of Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS) manages and maintains the Assistant Preparedness and Response (ASPR)'s Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), the national repository of critical medicines, medical supplies, and medical equipment established to protect the American public if there is a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out. The division procures and ensures that medical assets are stored and managed at the highest level of the Food and Drug Administration’s current Good Manufacturing Practices, and delivers these assets, which are designed to supplement state and local public health agencies in the event of a large-scale public health emergency in the United States or its territories.
