Business Intelligence Engineer

We are seeking an experienced BI Platform Administrator to support and optimize our Tableau Cloud and Alteryx environments. This role blends platform administration, data management, user governance, and mentorship, ensuring a secure, scalable, and efficient Business Intelligence ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be a Tableau Cloud site admin, a data champion, and a technical mentor, with strong hands-on experience in SQL, security architecture, and data operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Tableau Cloud Site Administration:

Maintain deployment, governance, and security frameworks.

Manage published data sources, monitor workbook usage, and extract refresh tasks.

Design row-level and column-level security models for data access control.

Tableau Community Enablement:

Mentor Tableau Desktop users and “ad hoc” developers on best practices.

Troubleshoot performance and usability issues across the user community.

Advocate for data quality, self-service enablement, and performance tuning.

Data Management & Analysis:

Create and publish certified data sources on Tableau Cloud.

Develop SQL for reporting, data prep, and transformation.

Build dashboards that provide key metrics and guide business decisions.

Alteryx Administration:

Assist with Alteryx environment monitoring, stability, performance, and user content governance.

Support SDLC practices and manage content lifecycle in Alteryx.

User & Security Management:

Administer user roles, access levels, and group policies on BI platforms.

Implement authentication/authorization best practices across systems.

System Monitoring & Maintenance:

Use monitoring tools to oversee BI system health and status.

Manage services, perform restarts, and track platform-level statuses.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence administration and development.
• Proven expertise with Tableau Cloud administration and dashboard/data source management.
• Strong experience with SQL and data modeling for performance and analytics.
• Proficiency in Alteryx platform support, including governance and stability management.
• Experience designing and implementing data security frameworks (row-level, column-level, application-level).
• Familiarity with user lifecycle and role-based access control on BI platforms.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with business and technical teams.
• Ability to manage priorities, resolve issues, and enable best practices across distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Tableau Server (on-prem or hybrid)
• Exposure to scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for task automation
• Experience in highly regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.)
• Familiarity with Agile development practices
