Job Description:
Cost Optimization & Analysis
Analyze Azure cost and usage data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
Provide recommendations on reserved instances, right-sizing, auto-scaling, and resource clean-up.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and tracking Azure spend against budget.

Azure Cost Management Tools:
Configure and manage Azure Cost Management + Billing, including:
Budgets and alerts
Cost allocation and tagging strategies
Usage reports and dashboards
Utilize APIs or third-party FinOps tools (e.g., CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, Apptio Cloudability) to enhance reporting and automation.

Governance & Policy Enforcement:
Support the implementation of Azure governance frameworks related to cost control.
Assist in defining and enforcing policies around tagging, resource provisioning, and spending limits.
Work with engineering teams to ensure compliance with cost policies.

Stakeholder Communication:
Collaborate with finance, engineering, and procurement teams to align on cloud financial goals.
Prepare and present regular cost and performance reports to stakeholders.
Translate technical usage data into business insights for non-technical audiences.

Technical Support & Advisory:
Provide expert support on Azure billing issues, subscription management, and licensing models (e.g., Pay-as-you-go, EA, CSP).
Advise teams on best practices for cost-effective architecture design on Azure.
Help troubleshoot cost anomalies or unexpected charges.

Automation & Scripting:
Develop scripts or automation workflows (e.g., using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, or Bicep) to manage cost-related tasks.
Automate regular reporting or alerts for anomalous cost spikes.

Continuous Improvement:
Monitor industry trends and FinOps best practices.
Recommend and implement improvements in the FinOps lifecycle (inform, optimize, operate).
Contribute to knowledge bases, documentation, and internal training.

Optional Skills / Add-ons:
Familiarity with Microsoft licensing models, including EA and CSP.
Understanding of multi-cloud FinOps, if managing more than Azure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
Certification such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
