Azure Database Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure Database Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Azure-based databases that support our critical enterprise applications. You’ll be a key player in building a more connected retail data environment by managing data pipelines that integrate platforms like ERP (Great Plains), POS, eCommerce, and Open-to-Buy/SIP tools. Your expertise in database optimization and cloud modernization will be crucial in ensuring our data infrastructure is both efficient and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain robust and scalable databases within the Azure environment to support our business applications.
• Develop and manage data pipelines to seamlessly integrate data from various retail platforms, including ERP (Great Plains), POS, eCommerce, and Open-to-Buy/SIP tools, creating a unified and connected data ecosystem.
• Proactively monitor and optimize database performance through advanced query tuning, indexing, and partitioning strategies to ensure high-speed data access and efficiency.
• Lead and contribute to cloud migration and modernization projects, ensuring our data infrastructure remains cutting-edge and aligned with future business needs.
• Work closely with application developers to embed best practices for data scalability and efficiency into the core design of new and existing applications.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with Azure SQL Database and other Azure data services.
• A strong background in database performance tuning, optimization, and monitoring.
• Experience working with and integrating multiple retail data platforms and systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code
