Sentara is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in AWS GovCloud to support cloud development and engineering efforts for government clients. This role requires a hands-on professional who can hit the ground running, working in a fast-paced, high-security cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and implement cloud solutions in AWS GovCloud to support government end-clients.
- Work on cloud infrastructure deployment, automation, and optimization following best security practices.
- Configure and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, VPCs, and CloudFormation within GovCloud.
- Ensure compliance with FedRAMP, NIST, and other federal security standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing infrastructure.
- Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and logging to meet government compliance requirements.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes to streamline cloud development.
- Support and troubleshoot cloud-based applications, ensuring minimal downtime.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, with at least 2 years in AWS GovCloud (US).
- Expertise in AWS security frameworks, IAM policies, and compliance for government environments.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, security groups, firewalls).
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Splunk.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, etc.).
- Previous experience working with U.S. government contracts or agencies.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
