Automation Engineer

This resource will be expected to lead automation efforts to ensure that the data center technical environment is properly monitored and that any problems are reported to the appropriate people. Lead automation efforts to automate tasks; reporting, tools, and any other area that can benefit from automated processes.
This person will need to demonstrate general understanding of client/server and SAN/storage array support data center environments so as to understand how automation can help.
Understand the development of test configuration plans for the lab computing environment infrastructure and knowledge of deployment of fiber-channel storage arrays, hosts, switches, software, and storage networking infrastructure.
Maintain a working knowledge of all documented processes and procedures.
Help identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency and responsiveness, makes automation recommendations and assists to implement efficiencies.
Mentor and project-supervise less experienced Lab System Engineers in creating and executing automated tasks.
Identify system or storage performance issues and participate in the development of tools to improve system management.
Provide technical expertise in the development of collaborative platform client application/customer interfaces.
Essential Requirements
• 3-5 Years of enterprise class software development and/or creating automated processes.
• Experience with DevOps and software development. Knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more scripting languages, Python, and RESTful environments.
• Ability to write reusable code and scripts for task automation, and interfacing into data center tools.
• Skills in debugging, triaging, performance tuning and troubleshooting of large software systems.
Desirable Requirements
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, RFCode, and Atlassian products
• Familiarity with Dell server hardware and storage, particularly iDRAC
• Exposure to data center monitoring needs such as thermal, power, and networking
