AS400 Developer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and implement applications on the IBM AS400 platform.
• Maintain and enhance existing AS400 applications and troubleshoot production issues.
• Write and optimize RPG (ILE RPG, RPG IV) and CL programs.
• Develop and maintain DB2/400 database objects such as tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Collaborate with business analysts, end-users, and other IT teams to gather and understand requirements.
• Perform system analysis and recommend improvements.
• Monitor system performance and implement necessary changes to improve efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Support system upgrades and migrations.
• Ensure compliance with IT standards and best practices.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an AS400 Developer or similar role.
• Strong programming skills in RPG (ILE RPG, RPG IV) and CL scripting.
• Experience with DB2/400 databases and SQL programming.
• Knowledge of IBM iSeries system operations and tools.
• Familiarity with tools such as Query/400, Data Description Specifications (DDS), and third-party utilities.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
