We are seeking a skilled AIX Administrator to manage and maintain our AIX-based systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our AIX infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain AIX operating systems, including the latest versions (e.g., AIX 7.3), on physical and virtualized (PowerVM) environments.
- Perform system administration tasks, including user/group management, security hardening (e.g., PowerSC), and system updates/patching (e.g., NIM).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues, including performance bottlenecks and system crashes.
- Monitor system performance using tools like NMON, and implement optimizations at the OS and application levels.
- Plan and execute system backups and recovery procedures using tools like mksysb and LVM mirroring.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., networking, storage, database) to ensure seamless integration of AIX systems with other infrastructure components.
- Manage and configure storage subsystems (e.g., SAN) and file systems (e.g., JFS2).
- Implement and maintain system security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry best practices.
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Perl, Python).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience as an AIX Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of AIX operating systems, hardware (Power Systems), and software, including the latest versions (e.g., AIX 7.3).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (PowerVM).
- Proficiency in system administration tools (e.g., NIM, NMON, PowerSC) and scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Perl, Python).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with database administration (e.g., DB2) on AIX is a plus
